Codot                          : ”Apa sih salahku? Kenapa dari kecil Babeh Cuma sayang Cidit. Ah,
lebih baik aku minggat saja. Daripada aku di sia-siain.” (dengan
gaya yang lebay) (Sambil membawa barang2 Codot pun pergi
meninggalkan istana)
Babeh                          : ”Mau kemana kamu nak?”
Codot                           : “Codot mau pergi saja,Beh.
Babeh                          : “Kenapa?”
Codot                           : “Codot selalu di sia-siain, gak pernah disayang.”
Cidit                           : (Datang tiba-tiba) ”Yaudah sna pergi.”
Babeh                          : “Udah bawa bekal belum?. Pintu nya disebelah sana ya, belok kiri,

Codot                           : (langsung melangkah pergi. Eh tiba-tiba Codot menabrak pintu)
“Aduuuuh, ah ahhh aduh. Kaki ku sakiiit. Huhuhu.”
Hari demi hari Codot jalani, mendaki gunung, melewati lembah, menyebrangi sungai dia lalui. Dan pada akhirnya dia melihat gua yang berisi emas di dalam nya.

Codot                           : ”Waw, silau men. Apa itu ya? Kok berkilau banget. Waaah, that’s hot
emas semua.(kagum)Indahnya.”
Tempat ini sepertinya tidak berpenghuni. Bagaimana kalo aku tinggal
disini saja.” (Gut angguk angguk)

(Cidit termenung)
Cidit                           : ”Hah, gimana nih, aku udah gak punya teman lagi.Mereka pada
ninggalin aku gara-gara sekarang aku gak punya duit. Bayangin coba kalo kalian jadi aku. Haaa?!”
Babeh                            : ”Gimana kalo kamu datang ke si Jelek itu?”
Cidit                               : ”Ngapain?”
Babeh                            : ”Ya buat ngrebut kekayaaan Codot lah. Gimana?”
Cidit                               : ”Ha? Bener juga ya. Tapi apa dia mau nerima aku lagi.”
Babeh                            : ”Iya juga ya. Hmmm.”
”Gini, kamu kesana minta maaf. Lalu kamu baik-baikin dulu, setelah
dia lengah baru kamu beraksi.”
Cidit                               : ”Wah, ide yang brilian.Aku mau pergi, gak tahan jadi orang miskin.
Kalo disini trus aku bisa ketularan sama Babeh.”
Babeh                            : (garuk-garuk). ”Lihat aku disini, kau lukai hati dan perasaan
ini,hingga....”
Cidit                            : ”IDL lah, nyanyi aja bisanya, duit gak pernah ngasih.
Wasalamualaikum”

Akhirnya Cidit pergi menemui Codot

Cidit                             : ”Adikuuu, kangen deh ama kamyu.”
Codot                          : ”Aku juga kangen kalian. Kenapa kakak kesini? Bagaimana
keadaan Babeh?”
Cidit                              : ”Ah pusing, kita melarat. Babeh panuan lagi. Mana Tahan?!”
Codot                           : “Kalo kakak mau, kakak boleh tinggal disini kok.“

Setelah beberapa minggu tinggal bersama, niatan jahat Cidit pun muncul.

Cidit                          : (berlari mengejar Codot sambil membawa pedang).
”Aku akan membunuhmu. Huahahahaha.” (Tapi kasihan juga ya,
     jadi ga tega)
Codot                            : ”Tidaaak!”

mata.Wah, mungkin berlian.”
Aku bawa saja ke istana. Mungkin itu obat panu buat Babeh.

Sesampainya di istana

Babeh                         : ”jelek ku, kamu pulang juga.”
Codot                         : ” Aku kesini ingin Babeh cepat sembuh, ini aku bawakan tanaman
obat khusus buat panu Babeh.Dicoba dulu Beh, mungkin panu
   Babeh bisa hilang.”
Babeh                          : (mengoleskan tanaman itu ke tubuhnya, langsung sembuh)
 ”Wah, aku tampan lagi. Hahaha.”
Codot                           : ”Alhamdulilah”
Babeh                          : ”Terimakasih anakku, meskipun kamu jelek kamu ternyata berhati
baik. Tidak seperti babehmu ini. Maafkanlah babeh mu ini nak.”
Codot                           : (memeluk sang babeh) ”Aku terharu beh.”

Akhirnya mereka semua berkumpul menjadi keluarga yang sakinah, mawadah dan warohmah

The Red Hood Monster and The Wolf

Once upon a time.  In a small village at the edge of the forest, I was born.  I lived with my mother.  I still had a grandmother, but she didn’t live with us.  Her house was at the edge of the river, exactly behind the forest.  My mother loved me very much also my grandmother.
When I was five years old, my grandmother gave me a nice red hood.  My favorite color.  I always wore it everywhere and almost never took off, except when I took a bath and slept.  I was famous by peoples the girl with red hood, but in my village many people were afraid of me because I imitated my grandmother’s hard characteristic and always angry.  So that many people called me “Red Hood Monster”.
One day my mother told me that my grandmother was sick.  Actually my grandmother was not serious ill, she would be better soon, because she was handy and cheerful woman.  My mother was busy, so that she asked me to go my grandmother’s house.
With half heart.  I went there with wearing favorite red hood.  I brought a basket full of food such as apples, breads, a bottle of milk, and a new frying pan.  I didn’t know why my mother gave them to me.  I was very lazy to go to the middle of the forest, but it was ok.  I wanted to get her house soon.  In order that I could sleep, because the day was dark.
At the edge of the river, the wolf that was drinking, called me.
“Hi, a sweet red hood.  What are you doing?” asked the wolf
My trip was stoped in front of the wolf
“Huh, you are really bad face.  Why were you not born like a rabbit that’s funny and can jump.  Why were you not born like a tiger that’s gentle, or like me that’s very beautiful girl” said me.
To hear that voice the wolf was angry
“How useless to talk with you.  I must go to my grandmother’s house””
“Hi, wait” said the wolf
“What do you want? Do you want it?” while throwing the apples to his body so that he fell down many times.
“Where are you going, girl?”
“You are deaf, I will to my grandmother’s house behind this forest”
I took a frying pan and hit him. The nice hit, the wolf ran away irregularly, so he hit many trees
“Red hood monster”
“I must revenge her.  I will look for her grandmother’s house”
The last tree that I have just it was beside her grandmother’s house.
“What a pity you are.  I will injure your grandmother”
The wolf as manage ugly plan and enter the house.  In the house the grandmother screamed and ran out the house and soon climb up the high coconut tree handily to save herself from the wolf.

When I got there, I was surprised my grandmother was on the tree and the wolf with wide mouth has been ready to eat her.  Suddenly grandmother fell down on the wolf, the wolf was destroyed in piece.  Not longer after that my grandmother dead together.  I was very sad to see her.

PATTERNS OF ORGANIZATION

In this chapter you will learn to recognize four basic patterns that writers often use in developing their ideas. Finding the pattern helps you find the main idea. Here, there are four common patterns:
1.    Listing of Related Ideas or Examples
In this pattern, the writer’s main idea is stated in the form of a generalization. This is followed by a list of supporting details.

Example:
People have many different ideas about what makes a great vacation. Some people like to go for long walks in the forest, where they won’t see anyone for days. Others prefer to spend their holiday in an exciting city. There they can visit museums, theatres, and good restaurants. Still others enjoy the fresh air at the seashore. They can spend their days at the beach and listen to the ocean waves at night. A few people decide to stay at home and do some major household projects. They might spend their vacation painting on porch or washing all the windows in their apartment.

Look at the underlined words. They will tell you each time the author lists another way to spend vacation. These underlined words are signal words. Each signal words refer to the author’s examples.

2.    Sequence
In this pattern, the writer’s main idea includes a series of events or steps that follow one after another.

Example:
Albert Einstein was born near the end of the 1800s in Ulm, Germany. He graduated from the University of Zurich in Switzerland at the age of 26. Fourteen years later he won the Nobel Prize for Physics. For the next ten years he lived in Germany. Then, in the early 1930s, he had to leave Germany because of Hitler and the Nazi Party. He moved to the United States, where he lived until the time of his death at the age of 74. He lived a long and productive life.

In this paragraph, the main idea is Albert Einstein lived a long and productive life. The signal words helps you notice the time of important events in his life.

3.    Comparison/Contrast
In this pattern, the writer’s main idea explains similarities and/or differences.

Example:
Visitors see some similarities between New York and San Francisco. Both cities, for example, are exciting cultural centers. They are equally attractive to people from many parts of the world. The cities are also alike because they both have many beautiful buildings, large, lovely parks and grand bridges. On the other hand, the two cities have important differences. One difference is the lifestyle. New Yorkers are always in a hurry and are much less friendly than residents of San Francisco. The streets in the California city are very clean, unlike New York, where the streets are often dirty. Another major difference is safety: San Francisco has much less crime than New York.

The main idea of this paragraph is: There are both similarities and differences between New York and San Francisco. The signal words refer to each similarities and differences that mentioned by the author.

4.    Cause and Effect
When the main idea is that one event or action causes another, authors use the cause and effect pattern.

Example:
In 1989, the Exxon Valdez oil tanker spilled millions of gallons of oil in Alaska’s Prince William Sound. Biologists who have studied the local wildlife have noted the consequences of the spill. It has resulted in a great decline in the number of birds in the area. The spill also has caused many young harbor seals to suffer from brain damage and death. Killer whales also felt the impact of the spill. Since 1989, more than one third of the whale population has disappeared.

The main idea of this paragraph is: the oil spill in Alaska resulted in many harmful effects on animals. The signal words refer to each cause and effect that mentioned by the author.

Little Red Riding Hood and The Big Bad Wolf
Five years ago, when I was child with my favourite red hood.  I ever fridhten the stupid wolf and until now the big wolf run a way when he met me in the forest.  It was very funny, but fact I told a lie to him.  When my grandmother was sick, I brought a basket of bread and grandmother’s favourite fruits.  I didn’t forget to brought rice and fried chicken.
That afternoon I through the forest, the wolf had prevented me. I was very surprise, but my grandmother said, “if I meet the big wolf, take the big stone to make run the wolf”.
I was not afraid with the big bad wolf.
“Hi bad wolf, go away from here.  I want to my grandmother’s house.  She is sick and lie weakly or I will trow you with this stone”.
Finally the bad wolf run away as far as he can, but the wolf even went to my grandmother’s house.   The wolf thought, “How soft the girl ! How delicious her meat ! Her meat is better than her grandmother’s meat.  The meat of grandmother is only skin and bone”.  The wolf enter the house and pretend to be grandmother.  While the grandmother  was afraid and hide in the kitchen.  The wolf didn’t like the meat of grandmother.  He waited for the fresh flood and delicious meat of the little red riding hood.  Not too far from grandmother’s house.  I felt very hungry and ate my rice and fried chicken .  when I got my grandmother’s house.  The door was opened widely, then I came to my grandmother.
It was very strange, my feeling was not nice.
“Why your body was very soft?”.  I said
“Because I had taking a bath seven times”.  Said my grandmother
“Why your ears became wider, your eyes became biger, your hands became biger, your nose too?”.
“Because I’m very sick, dear”.
“Then what sickness do you have? How bad you are !”.
When the mouth of the wolf opened widely and he would eat me.
“Wait a minute, I think I have seen you and known you.  You are the bad wolf.  I think you didn’t know your self.  I had made you run away, but you come back and enter my grandmother’s house”
“Look at this ! What is in my red hood?”.
“This is bone of wolf that I have just eaten in the forest”.
For the second times, the wolf was run away and he was not to brave.  I thought he was very stupid.  This was the delicious fried chicken that I have just eaten.  I didn’t like the meat of the wolf because it was very bitter. Ha ha ha

I looked for my grandmother soon and I found her hiding behind the stone with the dirty face.

The Firebird

Prince Ivan and his sister Katooshka lived with their father, the Tsar, in a castle in Russia. Of the two children, the Tsar preferred the daughter as she seemed to be more hard working than the son, but really it was the other way around, only Katooshka was very sneaky.

The children had to care for the Tsar’s greatest treasure, a tree with apples made out of gold. But one day it was discovered that a golden apple was missing from the tree. The next night another one was stolen. The next night the Tsar told Ivan and Katooshka to stay awake in the garden and find out who was stealing the golden apples.

Katooshka didn’t even try and stay awake, she just left it up to Ivan to do everything again. After a while Ivan saw the most beautiful thing he had ever seen. It was the Firebird. He ran after the Firebird, but got there just too late, although he did catch the Firebird’s tail, and one of the beautiful feathers came out in his hand.

In the morning, Katooshka shouted at Ivan for letting the robber get away. When the Tsar came to speak to them, she also said that Ivan has been very lazy and hadn’t done anything, so it was his fault that the Firebird had got away! The Tsar was very angry but he was amazed at the beauty of the feather. He sent his son away to catch the Firebird. He was not to return until he had caught the splendid bird. A long journey began.

First Ivan reached a creepy forest where he had to decide whether to go forward and be eaten by a wolf or go back and be a failure. Ivan was determined to find the Firebird and prove to his father that he wasn’t useless. So he entered the forest and there he encountered a toothless wolf. But how could a wolf be dangerous if he did not have any teeth? A pedlar had given Ivan a wolf’s tooth in his father’s city. The tooth was useful for polishing the golden apples to make them extra clean and shiny. Ivan took pity in the wolf and gave him the tooth. The wolf was very grateful and decided to accompany Ivan to the castle of Koschei the Deathless. (This was where they knew the Firebird was imprisoned)

But the evil wizard, Koschei the Deathless had another prisoner: Princess Vasilisa, princess of incomparable beauty. The wolf knew some facts about the princess and he issued Ivan with this warning.

“Do not look at her! She has been bewitched by Koschei the Deathless. He has turned her heart into wood, and hidden it so she could have no feelings. You will fall hopelessly in love with her, and she will never be able to return the feelings.”
The wolf was not the bravest of animals; he left Ivan to go into the castle on his own. Without the wolf there to remind him, Ivan forgot all the warnings and fell deeply in love with Vasilisa.

Now the prince had to master two difficult tasks: he had to rescue the Firebird and his princess. Before he had the chance to take the princess away, Koschei the Deathless appeared. He said that Baba Yaga, a terrible witch, had stolen the Firebird. Koschei the Deathless told Ivan that if he got the Firebird back from Baba Yaga, he would give Ivan the opportunity to choose between the princess and the Firebird. The wizard told Ivan how to find Baba Yaga, and how the Firebird was tied with a golden cord to Baba Yaga’s crow, Vanka.

Ivan set off to find the Firebird, riding on the wolf’s back. When they found the witch’s house, they saw that both Baba Yaga and the crow were fast asleep. Once again the wolf issued a warning to prince Ivan.

“Before you go, a word of warning. The Firebird will be fastened by a golden cord. Bring the Firebird, but leave the cord.”

Of course Ivan forgot this warning, he went to get the Firebird, he was about to leave with the Firebird with the golden cord still tied to the it, when Vanka the crow wakes up and squawks and squawks. Baba Yaga also wakes up and now Ivan was captured.

The wolf heard all this and went and fetched princess Vasilisa. Vasilisa pretended to be a pedlar woman and tricked Baba Yaga in to letting her into the house. When Baba Yaga and the crow were once again asleep, Ivan, the Firebird and princess Vasilisa ran away.

They all went back to Koschei’s castle. Ivan was then stuck. He had to choose between the Firebird and the princess. He would not be allowed back in his father’s house if he didn’t bring back the bird, but how could he leave his beloved princess behind. Koschei (as he was truly evil) then tried to turn Ivan’s heart into wood. Vasilisa saw this and suddenly burst into tears.

“Stop!….. Stop that I tell you! Stop your crying!” shouted Koschei the Deathless.

In an instance, Vasilisa realised where he had hidden her heart …… in her tears. Koschei the Deathless died and Vasilisa’s heart was no longer wooden. Ivan then told the Firebird that he was free, but the Firebird chose to come to the Tsar’s castle with him.

When they arrived, Ivan’s horrible sister – princess Katooshka tried to prevent them showing the Firebird to the Tsar. She gave Ivan and Vasilisa two apples from the golden tree (she had poisoned them to try and catch the thief). Ivan and Vasilisa both died!

Now only the Firebird, who had promised to return a favour to Ivan, knew a solution. She flew to the fountain of life and therefore could return and revive the children with the magic water.

The Tsar now noticed how he had mistreated Ivan and that Katooshka should be punished forever. He banished her to lead a pedlar’s life. However, Ivan and Vasilisa also took pleasure in the thought of being free and jolly pedlars. Finally they all decided to become pedlars and lived happily ever after!
